Teaching kids about numbers is a lot of fun! There are so many fun activities you can do, including this one! This Q-Tip Number Painting Activity is not only great for learning numbers but also a wonderful way to work on fine motor skills!

q-tip number painting

This printable PDF includes 10 pages. Each page has a number that can be filled in with Q-tip painting. At the bottom of each page, there is a number rhyme to help kids learn the correct way to write numbers. These number rhymes may look familiar! They are the same rhymes from this number rhymes printable.

For this activity, children will dip a Q-tip into paint and fill in the circles on the numbers. You don’t need a lot of paint on the Q-tip and may have to dip it in the paint several times for each number.

Any washable paint will work for this activity. We used the Cra-Z-Art washable kids’ paint and it was great. The small bottles made it great for dipping in Q-tips. You can also use an ink pad if you don’t have paint.

The printable does have color, but you can also print it in greyscale or black and white.

You can choose to use all the numbers at once or just start with one and do one per day.

This activity helps kids with number recognition, number formation, colors, and fine motor skills. When kids hold a Q-tip, they have to hold the small Q-tip in place and dab the paint in each circle. This is good for building those smaller muscles of the hand. It’s also great for hand-eye coordination! Working on fine motor skills will help with good handwriting when students learn to hold a pencil and write letters.
