How to make chili healthier
Chili recipes use ground beef or ground turkey. For this turkey chili recipe I use 99% lean ground turkey meat so that is lower in saturated fats. The leaner you go, the better for your heart and arteries with thank you . Ground turkey in general is a healthier alternative than beef as it contains less fat and saturated fat, although we have made and love it both ways.
Load it up with vegetables! With the addition of adding extra vegetables you can turn a blah bowl of chili to a well powered bowl of nutrients! Add about 1 cup of each diced: green peppers, sweet potatoes, and onion. You will get more fiber, vitamins and nutrients into your meal without the fuss of having to have a salad on the side.
