You will see that we feature this delicious shrimp recipe with our Cauliflower Spanish Style Rice and our Keto Refried Beans for a perfect meal.
Our site is filled with delicious shrimp recipes. Many have a Southwestern twist, since Joanie is heavily influenced by the food we eat in Arizona. More importantly, we just love shrimp dishes. Just like Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue from Forrest Gump, we could fill a blog post with links to all of them. There are so many ways to use shrimp. Here are a few for our favorites:
- Keto Baked Parmesan Shrimp
- Shrimp in Garlic Sauce
- Keto Shrimp in Tomato Basil Cream Sauce
- Shrimp in Poblano Cream Sauce
- Shrimp and Green Chili Omelette
Of course, fried shrimp is the main ingredient in the recipe. When dipping or eating by themselves, bigger is better. However, for many of our recipes we use smaller shrimp (20-25 count). Especially for recipes that contain cream sauces. We also use smaller sized shrimp for our shrimp tacos and appetizer recipes. The 20-25 count for this recipe is perfect, since they also fill up our tacos.. They will cook quickly and be delicious. Just do not overcook your shrimp – they will become tough.
Joanie flavored the shrimp with a Southwestern/Mexican spice blend. The smokiness of the paprika and chipotle chili powder is kicked up a notch with traditional Mexican cumin. As a result, you will have a real flavor treat in every bite. Stick with this flavor blend – it makes the recipe! This is one of her creations that will truly amaze you. Try the blend as stated – you will love it.
As we mentioned previously, above all, do not overcook the shrimp. Make sure the shrimp are at room temperature when you begin frying. You do not want your hot pan to cool down – the shrimp will then take longer to cook and become rubbery. Try 2 minutes per side, in a hot skillet. We like using our favorite cast iron skillet for this recipe. Turn once and they should be ready to serve. They will cook a little longer when removed from the heat.
As shown, we use this recipe for Shrimp tacos. We make a batch of our Keto Almond Flour Tortillas, line the shell with shredded red cabbage (sometimes sliced radish), and sprinkle with a little crumbled Cotija cheese, avocado, tomato, and chopped cilantro. If you make the same recipe with smaller shrimp they will yield a perfect appetizer. Check out our Keto Shrimp and Guacamole Appetizer.
